Carbon Reduction Plan

Organisational Commitment to Net Zero
BLOOMSDALE CARE SOLUTIONS LTD is fully committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across all UK operations, five years ahead of the government’s statutory 2050 target. This aligns with the NHS England Greener NHS Programme and reflects our commitment to improving population health outcomes while reducing our environmental impact.

Our Board of Directors formally approved this strategy in September 2025. We acknowledge that, as a provider of clinical and non-clinical services to NHS and public sector clients, our emissions, both direct and indirect, contribute to the health system’s carbon footprint. We therefore prioritise sustainability in all areas of our service delivery, workforce planning, procurement and estates.

This Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) will be reviewed annually, published on our website and updated to reflect actual emissions data and performance against targets.

Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2025
Our baseline carbon emissions were calculated using the GHG Protocol – Corporate Standard and UK Government GHG Conversion Factors. This includes all relevant Scope 1, 2 and selected Scope 3 categories aligned with PPN 06/21.

3. Most Recent Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: 2025
We have made measurable progress in reducing our emissions footprint through targeted initiatives over the last seven years. The following data reflects our latest carbon inventory.

We continue to track these figures monthly and align our internal reporting with the SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) framework.

4. Emissions Reduction Targets
We have adopted SMART emissions reduction targets as follows:

Progress will be benchmarked annually and published in our  dashboard and Social Value Statement.
Emissions Reduction Pathway
We have modelled a progressive emissions reduction trajectory, aiming to reduce annual emissions from 360 tCO2e in 2025. Key milestones include:

  • Reducing 100+ tCO2e by 2030 through fleet electrification, paperless systems and building retrofits.
  • Eliminating most Scope 2 emissions by 2035 through solar and 100% renewable energy.
  • Engaging 100% of our Tier 1 suppliers in our carbon literacy and decarbonisation charter by 2040.

Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed (2025):

  • Energy Efficiency: Retrofitted LED lighting and efficient HVAC systems across our sites, saving ~12% energy annually.
  • Fleet Transition: Converted 40% of our fleet to electric vehicles and installed EV chargers at regional hubs.
  •  Digital Transformation: Shifted 85% of back-office functions to cloud platforms, reducing staff travel and printing.
  • Supplier Sustainability Screening: Embedded carbon criteria into new procurement contracts.

Planned (2025-2050):

  • Fleet Electrification to 100% by 2030, including home-visit vehicles for care staff.
    for care staff.
  • Solar PV installation at HQ by 2026 to power 35% of our operations.
  • Smart Building Upgrades with sensor-controlled lighting and temperature regulation.
  • rollout to all contracted third parties by 2027, with annual review of carbon performance.

Monitoring, Governance and Clinical Relevance
Our Environmental Management System (EMS) is aligned with ISO 14001 principles and is led by a cross-functional Sustainability Governance Group reporting quarterly to the Board.

Named Net Zero Champion:
Ms Omosefe Ewere, Director, Board Member and responsible officer for CRP oversight, supply chain engagement and training.
As a clinical service provider, we also monitor:

  • Emissions associated with surgical kits, diagnostics and consumables
  • Anaesthetic gas usage and disposal
  • Patient travel minimisation via digital-first and outreach models!

We will complete the NHS Evergreen Supplier Assessment and remain compliant with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap for all Tier 1 and Tier 2 contracts.
